3 digester tanks poured in 15 fast pours

Project: Three digester tanks for Brownrigg Farm in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland

Contractor: 3b Construction Ltd.

MEVA Systems: Circular formwork Radius

Formwork Engineering: Leada Acrow, Glasgow, Scotland

Round means Radius

Leada Acrow, our formwork rental partner in Great Britain, reported the successful end to their first project with MEVA’s circular formwork system Radius. Three digester tanks were built at Brownrigg Farm in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland for the farm’s own use. Two of the tanks were 7 m high with a 17 m diameter whilst the third was 5 m high with a 20 m radius. The project was designed and built by 3b construction. Work was completed in just 15 concrete pours using more than 170 m² of Radius from the Leada Acrow fleet of MEVA formwork.

"Graeme Barr of 3b Construction found that “... the system was easy to use. The guys on site, once they got used to it, found it a quick and easy way to form the curved walls ... we are getting quite a reputation for this type of tank work and will look to use this system more often.”

Although the finish was not specified as architectural the cast concrete was of a very high quality and the striking of the formwork was a simple process.
